African Conference of Catholic Clergy and
Religious in the U. S.
March 4, 2009 Dear brothers and sisters, Grace and peace of God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ! The New Year has come upon us, and with it, the enormous but desirable challenge of preparing for another national convention. Last year’s convention was, mutatis mutandis, a success, and hopefully we are still savoring its special moments and possible fruits. Over 220 priests and religious from all over the great African continent were in attendance. It might also interest you to know that one of the major papers delivered at the convention has been published in Origins (see “Cross-Cultural Ministry: One Church in Two Different Worlds,” in Origins, Dec. 11, 2008, Vol. 38, no. 27, pp. 427-434). This year’s convention is actually going to be one of a kind, since we plan to mark the 11th anniversary of the commencement of our noble organization. The theme of our convention this year is a very relevant and practical one: “Leadership in the 21st Century: the Role of Priests and Religious.” The executive board has also done a marvelous job of lining-up some of the most impassioned speakers available; their names will be released (to you) as soon as final confirmations are received. The dates and venue of the convention remain August 5-8, 2010, in South Bend, Indiana (see attached flyer for details). Since the founding of ACCCRUS ten years ago, our conventions have witnessed an upward and onward growth in attendance year after year. Given the celebratory nature of this year’s convention, we are expecting a much higher number of attendees than ever. Consequently, I would ask that you send in your registration forms and fees sooner than later. Late registration fees will apply to all registrations received after the deadline (see registration form for details). Furthermore, please consider making your flight reservations immediately, to avoid the “nickels and dimes” associated with summer travel expenses. Our Publicity Secretaries have been quite thoughtful in arranging group travel deals with two airliners (Air Tran and American Airlines). To benefit from these you would have to use the provided “promo code” (see attached flyer for details). Finally, as I look forward to seeing all of you in Indiana, I welcome this as an opportunity to renew my sentiments of esteem. Sincerely yours in Christ,
Reverend Martins C. Emeh, J.C.L. National President VIEW OR PRINT REGISTRATION FORM
